Rains County Appraisal Review Board seeks applicants
Local Administrative District Judge Eddie Northcutt, administrative Judge for the state district court in Rains County is accepting applications for Rains County citizens interested in serving on the Rains County Appraisal Review Board (ARB) for 2024-2025. Judge Northcutt will appointment members to two-year terms.
The ARB is a citizen board that sits in panels of three to four hearing property owner protest that cannot be resolved informally with RCAD.
Service on the ARB will begin January 2024. Applications must be submitted to Local Administrative Judge through the Rains Central Appraisal District (RCAD) ARB chairman and received no later than November 3, 2023, to be considered.
ARB service is generally a full-time commitment during the summer months of requires members to be available to serve all day weekdays and some Saturdays if needed from May through July. ARB members are not always scheduled everyday but must be available to serve if needed. ARB members are not considered employees of RCAD but are reimbursed for their time as contract labor. Members are paid per diem of $150.00 per day and $75.00 for half day.
Candidates for the ARB must be current residence of Rains County, having resided over two years; must be up to date on property tax payments in Texas or show the tax is being paid under installment agreement.

Upon receipt, the ARB chairman will forward applications to the Local Administrative Judge for consideration and selection of appointees.
